Juliet Moran
Juliet Moran Bio

Juliet Moran’s first artistic expression was an ambitious endeavor. She snuck into her mother’s paint box, found a color that caught her eye and captured her imagination and started painting the family’s white picket fence…gold. She was four-years old and her mother, being an artist herself, must have understood. (And Juliet has moved onto express herself on more manageable canvases.)

Juliet started painting in the Chinese brush style 26 years ago when she took a calligraphy class in college. The smell of ink, the way the ink soaked into the paper, the feel of the brush…it all felt very natural and she was addicted.

She has found her own watercolor style combining the brush strokes of the Chinese method with more traditional watercolor techniques. Juliet has continued to experiment with these styles and even more recently she evolved her repertoire to include mixed media works, combining paint and collage style to create unique pieces.

A native Oregonian, she has lived in Hong Kong, Japan, the South Pacific, and traveled extensively in Asia and Europe. Her work has been inspired by and enriched through these life experiences. She captures life’s precious moments – a father and son on a walk through the quiet and sacred grounds of Meiji Shrine, a gondola ride through the Venetian waterways, the way the afternoon sun hits the surf and the rocks on Oceanside, the coastal Coffee Shop on the waning days of summer when the last of the tourists are ready to pack up and leave.

She retired from Nike, Inc. in 2000 to spend time with her family and pursue her painting full time. Her works can be seen at Art on the Boulevard, in Vancouver, Washington, at the Oregon Society of Artists, in local art shows, and in various private collections.
